Dance Challenge 2024
The Junior and Senior Dance Challenges are two separate finale events, held at the end of Dance Inspirations, showcasing each studio’s top scoring group performances. There is no additional cost to studios to enter.

Each studio will be required to enter their groups with the highest marks from across all genres, small, and large groups. In the event that two or more groups share the same high mark, studios may choose which group shall enter.
Studios must confirm their entries at the main MJFD office right after their final junior and senior group sessions of Dance Inspirations.
Once the final program for the Dance Challenge has been set, any changes to routine selections will not be accepted.
Entry Criteria
Junior
Only the number of Junior groups count towards the number of entries in the Junior Dance Challenge.
Studios with less than 10 Junior groups in Dance Inspirations: 1 entry
Studios with 10 to 15 Junior groups in Dance Inspirations: 2 entries
Studios with 16 to 19 Junior groups in Dance Inspirations: 3 entries
Studios with 20 to 29 Junior groups in Dance Inspirations: 4 entries
Senior
Only the number of Senior groups count towards the number of entries in the Senior Dance Challenge.
Studios with less than 10 Senior groups in Dance Inspirations: 1 entry
Studios with 10 to 15 Senior groups in Dance Inspirations: 2 entries
Studios with 16 to 19 Senior groups in Dance Inspirations: 3 entries
Studios with 20 to 29 Senior groups in Dance Inspirations: 4 entries
Entry Numbers
Junior- 12 years and younger
Senior- 13 years and older
Divisions
Marking criteria will remain the same as Dance Inspirations. However, each performance will be marked by all adjudicators. The final mark will be the average of all adjudicator’s scores.
In the event of a tie, original marks from Dance Inspirations will be referenced.
Marking criteria is as follows:
60% Technique - Execution of dance steps at appropriate skill level with proper posture and control
30% Stage Presence, Artistry and Musicality - Good projection and visual appeal, flow of movement with music and appropriate timing
10% Overall Impression - Quality of performance
Scoring
Scholarships will be awarded to the top three scores in each of the Junior and Senior Divisions. As well as an honorable mention scholarship will be awarded to the highest score to a group not having placed in the top 3.
First Place winners will be presented with a generic banner for photos and will receive a banner following the event which will include both the studio and group routine name.
Second, Third & Honorable Mention place winners in each division will be presented with a banner to take home at the event.
